Is it just as good as Twilight? YES IT IS!

I've been reading about vampires, and how amazing they are. I've done my research, and I've been compiling some pretty awesome books since reading Twilight for the 20th time in Nov. 2008. Most of these ideas came from lists around the internet and in magazines, and personally, this is how I rate them:
MUST READS - VAMPIRES
Vampires, Burial and Death: Folklore and Reality - by Paul Barber
American Vampries: Fans, Victims, Practitioners - by Norrine Dresser
Vampires Among Us - by Rosemary Ellen Guiley
In Search Of Dracula: the History Of Dracula and Vampires - by Raymond T. McNally & Florescu Radu
Vampires and Vampirism - by Montague Summers
TOP TWILIGHT-LIKE BOOKS
1) Night World Series 1, 2, and 3 - by Lisa J. Smith
It only has a few stories about humans and vampires falling in love, but these books were made in the same general story plot and conflict as Twilight, but mixed in with great description, seducing characters, and mysterious darkness, it certainly is one of the best books!
2) Perfect Chemistry - by Simone Elkeles
The conflict is similar to Twilight, and many of my friends rate it as tied with Twilight, maybe even better
3) Wings - by Aprylinne Pike
When I heard that Stephenie Meyer had reviewed this book as, "A stunning debut for a promising author" or something like that, I HAD to read it, and I found it to be amazing and so much like New Moon with the conflict like Edward vs. Jacob for Bella!
4) The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks
The main character in this book has lots of love and depth for his wife, and that's what makes it so much like Edward and Bella with their never ending adoration for each other.
5) Dracula - by Bram Stoker
This is for people who have a large range in their vocabulary. If not, then you might wanna pull up a dictionary.

If you haven't kept up with the Twilight news...: New Moon Soundtrack!

Goodness, most of my friends like Alix and Crystal and Erin and Elena and Evelyn and Paula don't know the list of the New Moon Soundtrack. For their benefit and for anyone else who is totally clueless upon the topic, I am here to bring them from ignorance to complete intelligence!
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE — MEET ME ON THE EQUINOX
* BAND OF SKULLS — FRIENDS
* THOM YORKE — HEARING DAMAGE
* LYKKE LI — POSSIBILITY
* THE KILLERS — A WHITE DEMON LOVE SONG
* ANYA MARINA — SATELLITE HEART
* MUSE — I BELONG TO YOU (NEW MOON)
* BON IVER & ST. VINCENT — ROSYLN
* BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB — DONE ALL WRONG

How to dress like Alice Cullen for Halloween!

Twilight Halloween Cullen Costume Ideas Courtesy of TwilightPoison.com!

Recommended by MTV.com!

Some people asked me about making a guide to dress like the Cullens on this website. I thought the best moment to make this section would be now - right on time for Halloween. There will be probably tons of girls who would love to go as a Twilight vampire for Halloween. I wrote this guide for you :).

This guide will give you great ideas for Halloween parties and Twilight release parties/movie premieres. The best thing is that I will list products like make up and clothes that either you already own, or that you'll be able to use again afterwards. So it's pocket friendly :).
The links I post for products and brands are merely a suggestion. You can search for similar products at your favorite/closest store. However, I am familiar with some of these brands, so if I give you advice on something in particular it's because I know ;).

Now let's begin and if you have any ideas, questions, suggestions, etc. you can e-mail me at wolfspirit(at)twilightpoison.com.

Vampire Look - What to do and what not to do

The cool thing about the vampire look in Twilight is that it's beautiful and sexy. That's the whole point. So we're really going to try to focus on this. I've seen pictures of a lot of girls dressing up as vampires for release parties and they can only manage the "dead/pale" look, but sometimes it's very un-Twilight. A bit cartoonish. We are going to try and stay away from that in this guide. More important than looking "dead" and "pale" is looking "inhumanly beautiful", in my opinion. And that's what we're going to do :).
Also, we'll try to make it a bit more obvious for those who are not Twilight fans that you are a vampire (or some beautiful mythical creature, in case they don't get it right away!), just so we can spare the annoying "What are you supposed to be...?" questions.

Contacts

The very first thing you need to get is... the golden eyes contacts. Or red eyes, in case you want to be a regular vampire. Or black eyes if you want to be a hungry vampire ;).

Personal Opinion - I would have to say that this is a must have for your Cullen costume. It's necessary if you want to be dressed as an actual Twilight vampire. So if you want to freak out about getting one product on this guide for Halloween, I'd say this would be it. Prices go from $30.00 to $100.

Here are a few links that sell these colorful contacts:

- BCheap.
- Coastal Contacts.
- Grimm Brothers Halloween.
- Clearly Contacts.
- Haunted Eyes.

If you're going for the vegeterain vampire look stay away from anything yellow and go for the amber/golden colors.

Make up

One common mistake girls make when they dress up as a Cullen is that they paint their faces white, literally. I would have to say, this is a no-no since it's what makes them look cartoonish. The Cullens are not white, they're pale. This means they keep some original human color, just a very faded, pale color. We do not want to look like Casper. We want to have some pale but beautiful color.

So this is what you need to get for the face:

- Oil base concealer.
- Oil base foundation.
- Rose pink blush.

Important Tip #1 - Do not get any Halloween-ish make up kits or cremes. Not only do they suck and look horrible, they are also terrible for you skin. You need actual decent make up. This is a good thing because you can re-use it, as opposed to buying a make up kit that will most likely not be used until a year later and who knows if it'll be good to use then.

Important Tip #2 - When you look for the base and concealer don't just get any light color. You need to find a color that suits your skin tone, then pick a couple of shades lighter. Concealer must be lighter than the base foundation. This is very important.

How to - Now apply the base carefully after washing and moisturizing you skin. Apply gently with the tips of your fingers the concealer around the eyes area. Then use just a little bit of rose pink blush around on your cheek bones. Just a tiny bit. I think that done right you can look very pale but very beautful.

Personal Opinion - I honestly don't think you should try and create the dark circles under the eyes. I think some people overdo it and it's not really necessary. I think that the most important thing here is the inhumanly beautiful/pale look. Not the dead/white look. This is something we want to avoid. We want you to look beautiful and inhuman and when people start to try and mess around with ugly things like dark circles it just looks too Halloween-ish. I totally leave it up to you, but I wouldn't do it. I think that as long as you look pale, you're done with the vampire complexion.

Eye Make-up

Since it's Halloween and you're probably going to a cool party I would totally suggest playing a bit with the make up and add a very dramatic look to draw more attention to your face and the vampire contacts. Sure, the vampires in Twilight don't need eye make up, but on this occasion I would say, why the hell not. Halloween is all about drama so I wouldn't go for the normal vampire look. Plus, we want other people who are not familiar with Twilight to notice the vampire look.

This is what you absolutely need to get:

- Mascara.
- Eye liner.
- Smokey dark eye shadow.

I wouldn't use any regular mascara though. We need to draw attention to your golden eyes. For that we need a perfect frame, and that would be large beautiful set of eyeslashes. One of my absolute favorite make up brands is Too Faced. They produce an awesome line of mascara called Lash Injection. For $19.50 you can get lash coating mascara that will make you eyes pop up with larger looking lashes. And you can totally use this mascara again for a night out.

An amazing way to wear the smokey eye shadow is this:

Imagine how your amber eyes will pop up, especially if the party is at night!
I still leave it up to you. You can also imitate the eye make up seen on the model we used for the face make up. But again, since it's Halloween and a lot of people don't know about the Twilight vampire look, you can still be free enough to play with the look a little bit. Remember the whole point is to look beautiful.

Rich Full Lips

Most vampire legends, including Steph's, mention lucious bright lips for vampires. This creates an awesome contrast between the pale skin and the rich lips. What you need is:

- Bright lipstick in red, rose, pink shades. It's your choice.
- Lip palm and/or lip gloss.
- Lip liner.

Advice #1 - If you already have full lips, you need to take full advantage of that. We want to exagerate your best features to make you look inhumanly beautiful. If this is your case I would suggest using a sexy rouge or bright pink for the lips. Then add some lip gloss.

Advice #2 - If you have thin lips getting lip liner is a must if you want to have fuller lips. You apply it around the borders of your lips and then fill in your lips with bright lipstick and gloss. Lip gloss is very important for the full lip look.
If you want your lips to be extra full you can also get a lip plumper. Again, by Too Faced there's this wonderful product called Lip Injection. Personally, I would totally recommend it. As the owner of thin lips myself I can say it does work. The downside is that the first minutes after you apply, the gloss itches a bit. This is what makes your lips plump. Don't use it if you think you wouldn't stand the itch. It's a bit discomforting for a couple of minutes, but after that you don't feel a thing. You have to re-apply every time you re-apply lipstick and gloss.

Advice #3 - If you don't have full lips and don't plan on changing that you can wear your lips like this:

Some pale rose pink lipstick and lipliner, no gloss or balm. It goes perfectly with the pale/vampire look.

Body Shimmer

One thing you shouldn't leave your house without it's the vampire shimmer. Even if the party is at night, I would still rock this look because it draws attention to the flawless vampire granite skin and it makes perfectly clear that you're dressed as something special and immortal (remember we want the non-Twilight fans to know what you're dressing up as?).
The product I would recommend is Kitty Glitter by Too Faced. Or whatever similar product you can find.

The cool thing about this product is that it's a sweet light powder, so you're not gonna shine like a disco ball, as you would if you buy some random Halloween-ish glitte cream product we desperately want to try and avoid. Plus, you can wear this again on a night out with your friends. It all depends on the ammount of powder you use. To quote the Too Faced website: Dab a little on for that "come hither" look or dust on liberally for a "see-me shine" effect. I would go for the "see-me shine" effect since it's Halloween, but you can use whatever ammount you're comfortable with.

How to - Apply the powder on neck, cleavege and arms. I wouldn't apply directly on the face, unless it's a very tiny portion. These things tend to look very different on the face than on the body.

So far we're done on the make up department. You're practically done! I hope these tips were useful and easy to follow.
Don't forget that we want to get the inhumanly beautiful look. We want to avoid the cartoon, chalk white ghost look some fans call "vampire" look.
Now let's move on to the clothes department.

Clothes

The good thing about this section is that you will not have to spend money unless you want to. The Twilight vampire look, more especifically the Cullen look that was used for the movie is mainly all about vintage sexy angelic clothes. You want to wear something sexy and pretty but at the same time something that has a timeless feel.
Here are some direct examples of two characters's styles in case you want to dress up as any of them.

The Alice Look - Vintage Dress

According to the costume desginers for the movie: Alice is the kooky, artistic one in the book so theres a lot thats inspired by vintage

To make the point that the Cullens are immortal and have been living for a few decades, the movie stylists make them wear vintage clothes with a modern twist. Alice wears a cute dress with a long knit sweater. Dark colors are a must.

You need to look for a strapless dress, cut above the knee. A long knit sweater, darker than the dress.

The Alice Look - Alice at school

All you need is a white cotton shirt. Make sure it's very artsy and full of hippy details on the front and on the sleeves. Make sure is not just any plain white cotton shirt.
Over the shirt you need to wear a blue vest, or at least darker than the shirt to make a nice contrast.

For pants, try to get some baby blue jeans.

The Alice Look - Alice about to kick some butt

This look is less mellow and a lot more badass. You need to get some cool dark leather (or faux leather) jacket and dark denim pants.

Alice's Shoes

Alice wears ballerinas or flat shoes in the following colors:

Alice's Jewelry

For jewelry, Alice wears a choker with the Cullen crest. You can order Alice's official choker here on Amazon.
If you can't find the Cullen crest or of it's not available for sale yet, you can use any regular velvet choker, with a cameo on it.

She also wears several silver bangles and vintage looking rings:

And also some silver bracelets with blue stones in them:

And that's it! You can wear your hair in some hip spikey way to finish the look even if your hair is not too short. You can flat iron it and just add lots of hairspray.

Kristen and Rob: Have they hooked up?

After months of anticipating, and many rumors and gossip flying through the air like wolves on the run, People, a reliable magazine source that rarely tells a lie, has finally confirmed that our Rob and Kris has hooked up. Not necessarily "going out" but they've gone to the length where they are just about to do so.

An insider tells People that they were snuggly during a Kings of Leon concert, and returning to one of their hotel's rooms to watch movies and get comfortable with each other.

Are you glad this is happening? Because I am on the kind of both sides opinion where: I'm so happy for them! I've been waiting for this to happen!!! and Why isn't Kristen with her boyfriend? They were a cute couple!

What do you think? This is just one opinion coming from ONE twilight fan :))

Dress Like Bella!

As you realized, I'm crazy for Bella, and thanks to Cosmogirl.com, they showed me how to dress like her! Thank you so much!

Known for making a subtle statement, Bella would love this simple navy silk dress so she could be flirty, without being over the top girly. The gold buttons give it that extra detail to stand out. Dress, Dolce Vita, Shopbop.

It's important for Bella to layer up in Forks. These stylish layers create an urban look while protecting her from the rainy weather - and possible fangs brought her way. Dress and Flannel Dolce Vita, Jacket, Current/Eliot, both ShopBop.

Bella wouldn't be caught dead without some plaid in her outfit, even with her little black dress. Dress, Civil Smith; Shirt, Hurley, both Shopbop.

This oversized, wooly sweater is a necessity for Bella. It gets cold up on that tree on Edward's back! Sweater, Hanii Y; Tank, Civil Smith. Shopbop.

Bella feels most comfortable when she's comfy and casual. With the pocket on the tank, she can hide a picture of Edward inside, or perhaps Jacob? Flannel and Tank, Civil Smith. Both Shopbop.

Bella would die for this pleated lightweight plaid top. The girls are already jealous she caught eye of a Cullen, they will no doubt be envious of this shirt too. Shirt, Civil Smith, Shopbop.

It's important to bundle up, especially when dealing with the "Cold Ones." The hoodie is perfect for Bella when she needs to hide from hungry eyes. Hoodie, Civil Smith; Flannel, Dolce Vita; both Shopbop.

This jean jacket is perfect for Bella when she's on the run (which is often.) It's stretchy, not too bulky, which won't slow her down. Hoodie, Civil Smith; Jacket, Current/Eliot. Both Shopbop.

This soft, cahsmere, purple V-neck would make it hard for Edward to ignore Bella's endless string of questions. Sweater, Shopbop.

With one quick layer, Bella can change this look from date night to school wear. Flannel, Civil Smith; Sweater, Shopbop. Both ShopBop.

These multi-tasseled beaded bracelets have some essential charms that can come in handy for Bella. An evil eye, clover, and peace sign will hopefully keep unwanted visitors away. Bracelets, Shopbop.

Dresses for Bella? No way! Prom was the only exception. It's denim all the way for her! Jeans, DL 1961. Shopbop.

Twilight Beauty! Tips To Make You Look Cullen Worthy

Twilight Beauty: How to Take Your Look from Day to Night
How to go from daytime pretty to nighttime hot? That was the challenge for these sweet-young-thing actresses who play the dangerously alluring vampires in fall’s buzziest movie, The Twilight Saga: New Moon. If you vant to know their tricks for evening sexiness, turn the page!
August 7, 2009 by Kimberly A. Daly The vampire club, from left: Nikki Reed, Rachelle Lefevre, Ashley Greene and new girl Noot Seear
From left: dress, D&G. Dress, Lanvin. Coat, 3.1 Phillip Lim. Dress, Marchesa.

GET AN AFTER DARK GLOW
Nikki Reed, 21, (a.k.a. Rosalie) welcomed the radiance; Robert Pattinson (Edward, her adopted brother) might not have. “The whole pale thing works for Rob, people who like to stay indoors and out of the sun, like vampires, but not for me!”
To create sultry contours for night, sweep a warm bronzer around the edges of your face and a lighter one over your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Try Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Duo Bronzer in Amber Bronze ($31, esteelauder.com), which has both shades.
Apply two coats of mascara and gold shadow on lids.

LET COLOR COME OUT AT NIGHT
Just how transformative is cherry red lipstick? “After the shoot, I bought one,” says Rachelle Lefevre, 30, who plays Victoria, a vampire out to avenge the death of her mate. “In Twilight, I put in a little playfulness,” she says. “In New Moon, I didn’t have any fun—it’s just pure anger!”
For a similar lip shade, try Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Top Tomato ($11, at drugstores). Apply with a lip brush: Start at the center of your mouth and blend out.
Skip blush but go heavy on mascara—it balances the lips.

VAMP IT UP...THE EASY WAY
The idea is to look sexy, not man-eater-y, so try smoky brown eyes like Ashley Greene, 22 (Alice, Edward’s future-seeing sister), has here. We asked her if the nonstop cast-hookup rumors were true; she won’t confirm or deny, but admits that there’s a lot of heat on set. “I’m glad I don’t have a boy-friend. It’d be hard to tell him, ‘I have a crush on Jackson Rathbone!’”
To get that smudge effect, blend with a spongy applicator. Try Dior 1-Colour Eyeshadow in Trendy Taupe ($28, sephora.com).
Do black liner, light blush and lipstick.

GO FOR KILLER EYES
It’s something Noot Seear, 26, got to do in her role as Heidi, a siren who lures prey to her lair to “dine.” Thing is, the contacts the cast wore (shades of violet, amber or red, based on their mood) made them nearly blind at times: “I had to learn to wear them—not a beauty tip I’d recommend!”
For these eyes, run turquoise liner, like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit in Aqua Paradise ($3.50, at drug-stores), along your lash lines.
Try Seear’s trick for waves, starting with texture spray: “I scrunch my hair out of the shower, hit it with a dryer and let it go wild.”
